Len Deighton's been writing spy fiction since the Great Spy Boom of the 1960s, and it says a lot for the quality of his novels that he's still writing it today. The combination of good plots, believable characters and humour make his books highly enjoyable. The Harry Palmer books were made into a series of films starring Michael Caine.
